Another advantage is our wood signs are made using old-growth Western Red Cedar. Old-growth wood is much stronger, more durable and longer lasting compared to new growth wood.
This photo shows the difference between new growth and old growth wood. The new growth wood only has 16 growth rings where the old growth has 60. The growth rings are what gives the wood its strength and stability.
HDU (High-Density Urethane) board is a closed-cell, rigid urethane foam board that is commonly used in dimensional signs and tool making. It is available in grades that are stable up to 300° F.
This product is a nice alternative to wood and it has a long lifespan. It is also made up partially from recycled materials. At the moment we offer two background textures wood grain and a rough concrete/stone affect.
Because we are working with many types of finishes and layers of paint we are really at the mercy of the drying process of all of our painted signs. The turnaround time varies on the time of year, layers of paint, stains and oils are all factors. You can expect to see your sign from anywhere from two to four weeks after it has been approved, depending on the above factors. If there is any concern about your timeline please let us know in advance.
If you need a logo or layout for any of the services we offer, we will be happy to help. We have several knowledgeable design staff who can take care of all of your concerns.
We prefer to receive digital artwork in a vector format. What is a vector file? See here
We accept the following formats:
Please send fonts or convert all fonts to curves.
If you are only able to send bitmap images not to worry we can convert these images to a vector format however if it is a complex image there will be design time added to the cost.
Using far superior wood and the highest quality finishes in the business means you'll get a sign that will not only look amazing, but will last a very long time! Average life of our wood signs is 25+ years. You will need to refurbish your sign after years of sun and rain a few times over the lifespan of the sign but it is a fraction of the cost of replacing it and it will look brand new.
You can minimize refinishing if you take good care of it by removing dirt and fungus/molds etc. In some cases adding oils can protect it (not varnish). Placement in direct sunlight or sprinklers will also have an affect on the longevity of the paint as you can expect from any polymers exposed to ultraviolet radiation and water.
